Project Description

Project: Reed Hall Theatre Addition & Renovation
Client: The Ohio State University
Location: Lima, Ohio
Completed: 2004

The existing Theatre at Reed Hall was the centerpiece of the Ohio State Lima Campus theatre department.  Built in 1967, it is contained in a single story structure that is located on the south edge of the campus academic buildings. M-Engineering designed mechanical/electrical systems for an addition of support space for the theatre, as well as the renovation of the main stage area.  Design included structural/ mechanical, and electrical systems.  Stages are structurally challenging spaces, and this project was made even more complex, due to the fact that the existing stage roof is being raised approximately 16 feet, in order to accommodate state-of-the art stage rigging systems.  Mechanical systems include: sprinklers/fire pump, new cast restrooms with showers, and a four pipe variable air volume air handling unit for the stage support spaces.  Electrical systems include:  lighting revisions to the stage, new lighting for support spaces, new telecommunications, and extension of the electrical distribution system to the new addition.
