Project: Dubai International City Central Chiller Plant
Client: Dubai Sports City, LLC
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dubai International City was a new mega-project, in which M-Engineering was commissioned to provide a district cooling system capable of delivering 445,000 tons of refrigeration throughout the city. In order to achieve this tonnage, M-Engineering designed ten 45,000-ton plants.
As temperatures in Dubai can soar to 118 degrees with 90% relative humidity, the need for cooling is quite apparent. Not only is the need for cooling apparent, but the desire to produce this cooling in the most efficient manner is one objective of the UAE people. Since there are many new cities emerging from the desert, the luxury of planning and implementing district cooling is a viable energy efficient option for the region.
M-Engineering was responsible for the entire design and supervision of the project from concept to completion, including but not limited to all design reviews, management and coordination of their design sub consultants. The project covered the central chilling plant(s) and associated pipe work, for distribution of the chilled water, to the various facilities being served by the plants, and all ancillaries as required for the completion of the system to Dubai International City.
